I just recently learned (alerted by the demise of the email address to which I'd been sending updates to the contact information list) that Ann VanDemark Willenborg died January 24, 2015 in Columbus, TX. At Lamar Ann was active in Tawasi, Choralettes, and Christian Student Union.

Our '58 classmate Edward John (Johnny) Jamail, Jr. died May 17, 2017 in Cypress, Texas. (Obituary and guestbook at http://www.kleinfh.com/sitemaker/memsol.cgi?user_id=1965499 .) As the obituary points out, Johnny's post-Lamar trajectory included a lot of drag racing and bull riding, followed by joint operation (with his brother) of a sand hauling business and of Jamail plumbing with his son, John. Johnny didn't have an entry (other than “Not pictured”) in the '58 Orenda, so please let me or Louise know if you have memories of Johnny at Lamar (or before or after Lamar, for that matter) you're willing to share with the rest of the class. [Rick McDowell, '59 memory of Johnny as “a regular winner at the local drag strip back in those days”.] A visitation and a funeral service were held for Johnny in Tomball May 21 and 22, with a committal service and interment at Forest Park Westheimer Cemetery in Houston on the 22nd.

"Here is [a] correction. The cost of the golf will be $64 a person which includes a cart. It is normally $35 but to reserve these tee times as a group there is a premium and there is a limit of 7 tee times. Please let me know if you want to play."

Barbara Kay Ekblad Patterson (Lamar '57) passed away December 27, 2017. (Obituary and guest book at http://www.legacy.com/obituaries/houstonchronicle/obituary.aspx?n=barbara-kay-patterson&pid=187684017&fhid=5470 .) At Lamar Barbara was a member of the National Honor Society, Quill and Scroll, Kachina, and CSU. She was also Assistant News Editor for the Lancer, Red Cross Representative, Lab Assistant, Office Assistant, and Library Assistant. Post-Lamar she attended UT and subsequently managed a hospital gift shop for many years before retiring at age 70. A memorial service will be held for Barbara at Lakewood United Methodist Church, 111330 Louetta Road in Houston January 12, 2018.
