MEMORANDUM
TO: Lamar High School Graduates of 1958 FROM: Gus Comiskey DATE: 5-16-17 RE: 60th Reunion Party - April 21, 2018 (Saturday) __________________________________________________________ We're planning on having a fun weekend, with a lot of good memories, and want you to put the date/s on your schedule. The big party is Saturday nite, April 21, 6:30 PM, at the Forest Club on Memorial, in Houston. We'll be sending you more info, but want you to get it on your schedule. Early estimate of the cost is about $65/person. Additionally, at noon on Saturday, at Lamar, Ron Woliver is again hosting lunch, served by the popular James Coney Island, and there will be tours of Lamar, which is undergoing $100 million of HISD changes and upgrades. We are hoping to have a golf tournament at Memorial Park Friday afternoon, April 20, following by a very informal get together at Beck's Prime, at the Memorial Park golf course. This part is in the planning process - as is the whole weekend. Our goal is to have several planned events, but to give you time to be with old friends, and just have a great time. You will receive a formal invitation, but it is important to the planning committee for you to get this on your schedule. Feel free to call me, should you want to ask questions, make suggestions, etc. My cell is 713-825-1106. Gloria Taylor Schroeder (Lamar '57) passed away Thursday, May 11. Her obituary (http://www.ottawaherald.com/obituaries/gloria-f-schroeder/article_5358c5bf-4d00-5328-95e0-ef409d4e6710.html) indicates that a memorial service will be held for Gloria at Faith Lutheran Church, 1320 W. 15th, Ottawa, Kansas beginning at 3 PM Wednesday, 5/17/17, preceded by a visitation with family and friends at the church beginning at 2 PM.
According to the '56 Orenda, Gloria was active in Choralettes and Christian Student Union at Lamar. After Lamar, Gloria attended TWU, UT, and UH before completing her paralegal degree at Johnson County Community College (Overland Park, KS) in 1992. I'm sorry to have to pass along (from her daughter Page Varner) the news that Katie Anderson Buller died peacefully at home in Buller, TX March 29, 2017 (Waller County Times Tribune obituary). Please see her entry in the In Memoriam section, and let Richard and/or Louise know if you have memories of Katie to add to that entry.
